Joe P. has lived with the creative purpose of exploring and establishing himself as an Actor, Poet, Playwright, Director and Educator in Houston, Texas and across the country. For over 13 years, he has been dedicated to continually developing his craft, as well as helping others to train and become disciplined in the arts. As an AEA actor, Joe P. has performed with such theatres as A.D. Players, Houston Grand Opera, The Alley Theatre, Stages Repertory Theatre, The Ensemble Theatre, 4th Wall Theatre Co., and at the National Black Theatre Festival. In 2019, Joe won Best Actor with the Houston Press Theater Awards for his role in Jesus Hopped the A Train. Joe has written and directed numerous stage plays including his original works of Love Pain Passion Progress: A Poe-A-Trical Life Story, Family, Til We Rise Again: A Story About Emmett, and The Road To A Dream which was produced by The Ensemble Theatre. Under his own umbrella, Joe founded ACTing Up Studios (AUS). As an AUS mission and through collaborations with such organizations as Young Audiences of Houston, LINKS, and Mack Performing Arts Collective, he has impacted the lives of youth and created platforms for adult artists. For his valiant efforts, Joe was awarded the “Leadership in Action” Congressional Recognition award for his services to youth. Gifted also with the spoken word, encouraging purpose living through his poetry, Joe P. has featured on stages across the United States, including a Season 4 performance on the nationally televised Lexus Verses and Flow on TV One. His poem entitled The Value of Life has garnered viral attention, as his words inspire change and depict the societal conditions of the African American community.
Acting is his first love. Poetry is his passion. Teaching is his Purpose.
