“In Mr. Burns, the prop design began with found objects. Car rims pulled off the side of the road. Buckets dug out of trash cans. Our collection of forgotten things began to build the show's world, one well-loved notebook and padded rake at a time. As time passed in the play, we elevated the methods the characters used to make the objects they needed. Props in Act 3 are still found objects, but now society has progressed back to the point of invention. Items are not just creatively utilized, they are creatively reconstructed--bare bones of the past reworked to support a resilient future.”
